Families here at merry glen

Family is our native tongue. We speak it in our training and development and work daily to make it the language of our team.

When Merry Glen’s families began meeting in 1955, there was nothing but family. Now, there is a huge Disability-Industrial Complex made up of regulators, unions, lobbyists, hedge fund managers, and legislatures. What was once a homestead is now a city. Families are grateful there are more storefronts, but each has its own constituency and its own angle on the world.

Merry Glen’s remains a family-centered approach to community living. Our loved ones tend to live here for a long time and become part of our larger extended family. Merry Glen serves as an alternative to the model that has grown up in the system of community-based institutions of 3- 6 persons group homes on lonely streets with frequent turnover. We seek a different vision.
